The full Latin title of Compendium rarissimum totius Artis Magicae sistematisatae per celeberrimos Artis hujus Magistros, roughly translates as “A rare summary of the entire Magical Art by the most famous Masters of this Art”. Completed in 1795, the Austrian manuscript compendium of the Black Magical arts references pychoactive drug use, animal sacrifice, sigillary body art, masturbation fantasy and the necromantic manipulation of gallows-corpses amongst its transgressive acts. Hidden for decades within the Wellcome Library collection, the manuscript has recently been reproduced as a full colour facsimile for the first time in Touch Me Not, published by Fulgur Press , complete with thirty-five watercolour and ink images and accompanying translations of the original German and Latin texts from scholars Hereward Tilton and Merlin Cox.
