Published to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Luigi Ghirri's death, this book is a facsimile of his self published work from 1978 which has for long been out of print. This new edition adopts the same layout, text and image sequence as the original, the only difference being that the photographs have been remastered. Ghirri presents his native Italy through a sequence of poetic and ambiguous photographs. His cropped images of Italy's landscape are presented with a dry wit and a continuous engagement with his surroundings. The colour and compositions suggest subtle emotional tones to the images and a achingly rich way of looking at the world.
