This book includes several different series by photographer Lieko Shiga. The ‘Lilly’ / ‘Damien Court’ series are a collection of portraits of the residents of Damien Court and Tomlinson Close, two housing estates in East London. At both estates, Shiga photographed the residents in front of outdoor walls which she had covered with black cloth. In ‘Jacques saw me tomorrow morning’, Shiga photographed the residents of a housing estate in Culvert Road in the Battersea area of South London, covering her room in black cloth and inviting them in to be photographed. In ‘Piano’, Shiga has captured her younger brother learning to play the piano.
