Condition: Very goodWilliam Christenberry spent much of his photographic career making photographs in and around Hale County, Alabama, his family’s native territory. Christenberry’s eye was drawn to the rural American southern landscape, to the worn, remote margins of towns with names like Moundville, Greensboro, and Havana Junction. He found a special attraction in the frayed, half-forgotten landscapes where houses of tenant families, churches, small independent shops, graves, and signs seem gently suspended on the edge of oblivion.
